Trump: The US should control Greenland
Former US President Donald Trump emphasized that Greenland is a strategically important territory for the United States. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to him, if the US does not control Greenland, the island could fall into the hands of China or Russia. Trump expressed these views during a meeting with representatives of oil companies.

This was reported by kursiv.uz. Trump stressed that the US must definitely take measures regarding Greenland, and this decision will be implemented regardless of the opinion of the island's population.

According to the president, if the US does not take such a step, Russia or China could seize the island, creating a strategically unfavorable situation for the United States. Trump recalled that based on the agreement signed in 1951, US military bases exist in Greenland, and the United States must fully control the island.

Earlier, various methods to strengthen US control over Greenland were discussed in the US. For example, ideas such as taking military measures or offering financial payments to the island's population to encourage them to separate from Denmark and join the US were proposed.

However, Trump's statements caused negative reactions within NATO. Some members of the alliance stated that such matters should only be resolved by the Danish government and the Greenland administration.

Additionally, according to survey results, the population of Greenland does not support the initiative to join the US. Eighty-five percent of Greenlanders expressed opposition to this idea.
