Trump: The obstacle to the war in Ukraine is Kyiv
According to US President Donald Trump, the main obstacle to stopping the war in Ukraine and achieving peace is not Moscow, but Kyiv. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

He expressed this opinion in an interview with Reuters. The conversation took place on January 14 in the Oval Office, and the material was published on January 15.

Trump emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for a peace agreement, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not quite ready. When Reuters reporters asked Trump, "Why have US-led negotiations still not resolved the biggest conflict in Europe?" he briefly replied, "Zelenskyy."

However, he did not provide a detailed explanation on this matter. At the same time, relying on its sources, Reuters noted in information published in December 2025 that US intelligence indicated that although Putin talks about peace, he has not abandoned his war objectives.

According to intelligence, Russia still aims to have full control over Ukrainian territory. These assessments are also consistent with conclusions provided by European countries' special services.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated in his remarks that Putin has no intention of entering negotiations and is looking for excuses to avoid peace talks. For this reason, European countries approach the peace proposals made by Russia with caution.

Overall, there are two perspectives in the current situation: according to Trump, Kyiv is moving slowly toward an agreement, while Moscow is ready. However, according to intelligence and European diplomacy, Russia has not abandoned its war objectives.

To achieve peace, not just statements but clear conditions and guarantees are required. After all, peace is only realized based on obligations on paper.
