Negotiations on Ukraine in the United Arab Emirates

After discussions within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, information was provided about trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These meetings are planned to take place on January 23–24 in the United Arab Emirates. This was reported by podrobno.uz.
On January 22 in Davos, US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a face-to-face meeting lasting one hour and communicated. Trump described this conversation as “good” and emphasized that all parties want the war to end.
After that, he left Switzerland. Western media are approaching the results of the meeting cautiously.
According to the Financial Times, Zelensky was unable to secure documented commitments regarding security guarantees and post-war reconstruction. Also, some pre-agreed documents were not signed.
After the meeting with Trump, Zelensky made a sharp statement at the forum, accusing European leaders of indecisiveness due to internal disagreements. He emphasized that the situation had not changed throughout the past year and that there was a lack of necessary political will in Europe.
Zelensky described Europe as “a collection of small and medium-sized states divided into parts.” He also criticized Trump’s “Peace Council” initiative, noting that European countries had not reached a common position on this matter.
In his opinion, the council includes states with sharply differing interests, and there is not even a ceasefire regime on the front line. Zelensky called on European countries to take measures to stop and confiscate the transportation of Russian oil through the “shadow fleet.”
He also touched on the issue of Iran, emphasizing that the international community is not providing sufficient support to the people in their struggle against the regime. The next stage is planned to hold negotiations in the United Arab Emirates.
Zelensky called these meetings “technical-level” talks. It is envisaged that delegations from the three countries will discuss possible agreements over two days.
At the same time, a direct meeting between US representatives and Russian President Vladimir Putin is also planned. The meeting is expected to take place on the evening of January 22.
