Former Major General Rateb G’anemi arrested

According to the Syrian Ministry of Interior, a joint operation was conducted near Hasaka province. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This operation was carried out in cooperation with the Internal Security Command's Counter-Terrorism Department. As a result, former Major General Rateb Ali G‘anemiy, who served as deputy head of the Military Security Directorate from 2010 to 2014, was arrested.
This was reported by the SANA state news agency. According to the ministry's statement, preliminary investigations confirmed that G‘anemiy held several high-ranking security positions.
He previously led the Military Security division in Hasaka city and later served as deputy head of the Sa’sa division. These positions were appointed to him by Bashar al-Assad.
The ministry added that G‘anemiy is suspected of participating in repressive measures related to the arrest of civilians, suppression of protests, and violations of human rights during that period. It was emphasized that these actions grossly violated the fundamental rights of citizens.
Furthermore, it is speculated that after the fall of the Assad regime, G‘anemiy may have joined the Kurdish armed groups YPG or SDF.
