Former Minister Galushchenko Arrested on Corruption Charges

The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has decided to arrest former Minister of Justice German Galushchenko. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The news was disseminated by the RBK-Ukraine news agency. According to the court decision, Galushchenko will remain in custody for 60 days.
However, he was given the opportunity to be released on bail amounting to 200 million hryvnias (approximately 4.6 million US dollars). The former minister expressed dissatisfaction with the court ruling and announced plans to file an appeal.
According to information, Galushchenko is accused of illegally laundering funds from the Energoatom company during his tenure as the former Minister of Energy. The Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Action Center stated that he could face imprisonment from 7 to 12 years.
Additionally, according to information released by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) on February 15, Galushchenko was detained while attempting to leave the country. Investigations regarding the case are ongoing.
