Zelenskiy and Putin meeting may take place within three weeks

US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steven Witkoff made an important statement regarding achieving peace between Ukraine and Russia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Speaking on Fox News, Witkoff stated that he does not rule out the possibility of a face-to-face meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future. According to him, as a result of US efforts, such a meeting could even take place within three weeks.
Witkoff emphasized that he and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner are optimistic about this matter. They have prepared proposals for both sides, and these proposals could bring the positions of the parties closer in the future.
The main goal is to create an opportunity for negotiations at the leadership level. Additionally, Witkoff mentioned another possible scenario: if a real chance for a peace agreement arises, a trilateral meeting could be held.
This meeting could involve Zelenskiy, Putin, and Trump. However, Witkoff said that Trump will only participate in such a summit if the process is brought to completion and the best result is certain.
Witkoff also responded to criticisms regarding his multiple meetings with Putin. In his opinion, it is impossible to reach an agreement without understanding the opposing side's position.
It was also noted that during the negotiations, the Russian leader openly expressed his position. The Ukrainian side, on the other hand, had already stated its position in advance.
Zelenskiy has repeatedly expressed his readiness to meet with Putin but rejected the invitation to go to Moscow and proposed holding negotiations in Kyiv. He also instructed his team to raise the issue of a leadership-level meeting in Geneva.
Washington hopes for positive results in the coming weeks. However, the situation is complex: many issues and conditions still need to be discussed between the parties.
If the summit does take place, it is certain to be a process involving lengthy negotiations and complex decision-making.
