A 24-year-old woman living in Helsingborg, Sweden, was taken to court and fined a large amount for a prank that became popular on TikTok. She had posted a video on social media showing her throwing an egg on her daughter's forehead.
This incident occurred last year when the woman decided to film the process of making an apple pie with her daughter. However, during the filming, the woman unexpectedly threw an egg on her daughter's forehead as a joke. In the video, the little girl is seen looking shocked and disapprovingly at her mother. Although it was clear that the child was upset by such a prank, the woman and another participant in the video laughed despite the girl's condition.
Nearly 100,000 people viewed this video on TikTok. However, one user, who considered such an action to be "violence and humiliation" towards the child after watching the clip, reported it to the local police. After the investigation, the woman was charged with "violence against children" and summoned to court.
In court, the woman stated that her actions were just a joke and that such videos are popular on TikTok. She believed that many parents have filmed similar pranks and that this is a trend on the platform.
However, the prosecutor took the situation seriously and described the woman's actions as "an attack on the child's dignity." The judge also considered such actions to be "thoughtless and having an unhealthy impact on the child."
As a result, the court found the mother guilty and imposed a fine of 20,000 Swedish kronor (approximately 2,000 dollars).
This incident once again highlighted the potential consequences of pranks on social media towards children. Therefore, parents are called to be cautious and responsible when creating videos for social media.
