Trump: Iran does not have to be democratic

US President Donald Trump expressed an unexpected opinion regarding Iran's political system. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In an interview with CNN, he emphasized that Iran does not have to become a democratic state, but it is important that a loyal and just leader to Washington comes to power. Trump added that he would not oppose this if the religious leader governing Iran meets the demands of the US.
According to the president, the current Iranian government has significantly weakened. He did not hide that Washington is interfering in Iran's internal affairs and hopes to form a new leadership in the country.
Trump compared this process to the events in Venezuela, expressing confidence that changes would be implemented very easily. It is worth noting that promoting democracy is one of the traditional directions of US foreign policy.
However, in 2021, the US administration promised not to carry out regime changes through the use of force. The State Department regularly criticizes the Iranian government for violating human rights and pursuing policies contrary to democratic values.
This situation may further escalate the complex relations between Iran and the US.
