"Alma TV" removed Russian channels from the broadcast

With the beginning of spring in Kazakhstan, changes are occurring in the television sector. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
One of the country's major paid television operators, "Alma TV," has removed some foreign TV channels from the broadcast. This situation has caused dissatisfaction and questions among many viewers.
According to the Orda.kz publication, starting from February 28, 2026, the company stopped broadcasting popular Russian channels. These channels include "Perviy kanal.
Vsemirnaya set," "Muzika pervogo," "Pobeda," and "Telekafe." Company representatives explain this decision by the expiration of the temporary permission granted by the rights holders.
Currently, the management of "Alma TV" is conducting negotiations to renew cooperation agreements. The company has stated that it is awaiting appropriate responses and new permits from representatives of foreign TV channels.
However, this situation is not limited to just one operator. Other operators have also removed major TV channels such as "Perviy kanal" and "NTV" from the broadcast.
Experts assess this situation as complications related to content rights and licensing issues. Viewers, meanwhile, do not know when they will be able to watch their favorite programs again.
