Due to heavy rains, buildings collapsed
Floods caused by heavy and sudden rains in the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala, have led to several problems. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In particular, a three-story residential building collapsed after its foundation was washed away, causing great concern among the population. According to the city administration, safety measures have been taken around four multi-story buildings on Ayvazovsky Street that are at risk of collapse, and they have been cordoned off.
More than 300 residents living in these buildings were evacuated to safe places due to the emergency. According to the city press service, some of the population is being taken to temporary accommodation points and is being provided with necessary assistance.
The rest have been temporarily placed with relatives. According to the Interfax agency, an additional building attached to the residential building on Ayvazovsky Street also collapsed due to the rain, but no one was injured.
Currently, residents of several multi-story buildings are being evacuated due to the risk of flooding. Since the end of March, heavy rains and floods have been observed in the North Caucasus.
The most damage was caused in Dagestan: tens of thousands of residents were left without electricity, roads were closed to traffic, and railways were damaged. Many streets in Makhachkala were flooded, and traffic was stopped.
Also, in Chechnya, heavy rains and landslides damaged 17 bridges and destroyed dozens of houses. Currently, the city administration and rescue services are constantly monitoring the flooded areas to ensure the safety of the population and reduce damage.
