Zelenskyy proposed halting mutual attacks on energy facilities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has introduced a new proposal regarding the mutual cessation of strikes on energy facilities with Russia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Ukrainian leader's statement, if Russia stops its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Ukraine is also prepared to respond in kind. This initiative was announced on the president's official website on April 6.
Zelensky emphasized that this proposal has already been conveyed to the Russian side through US representatives. The Ukrainian leader drew particular attention to recent attacks, specifically drone strikes on energy systems and residential buildings in the city of Odesa.
He also noted that three people lost their lives as a result of these tragic attacks. According to the President, the Ukrainian side had made several appeals to cease fire during the Easter holiday period.
However, Russia did not take these proposals into account and ignored the significance of the holy days. Zelensky added that if Russia has the capability to continue its military operations and finance them, then it truly does not want to transition to peace.
It should also be noted that on March 30, the Ukrainian leader stated he was ready to discuss establishing peace or a general cessation in the energy sector. But the Kremlin rejected these proposals.
According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Moscow has not seen a clearly formulated peace initiative and therefore did not wish to consider the matter.
