Kim Chen In promised to support Russia in the Ukraine war!
North Korean leader Kim Chen In announced during a meeting in Pyongyang with the Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Sergey Shoigu, that the Russian Federation is ready to continue its firm support in the armed conflict in Ukraine. This was stated in a statement released by the DPRK's main news agency, KCNA, on June 4.

Kim Chen In emphasized that he "fully and unequivocally" supports Russia's position on important global political issues and expressed readiness to support foreign policy related to Ukraine.

"The leadership of the DPRK evaluates Russia's special military operation in Ukraine as a 'just and sacred struggle' and sincerely wishes for Russia's victory on this path," the KCNA report quoted Kim as saying.

During the meeting, the North Korean leader and the Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Shoigu, also thoroughly discussed military operations in the Kursk region. In particular, the heroism shown by DPRK soldiers in battles against the Ukrainian Armed Forces alongside Russian soldiers was highlighted.

"The bravery and dedication of North Korean soldiers, who participated in the operation to liberate the Kursk region while standing side by side with Russian soldiers, protecting these lands, which are part of Russia, as their homeland, is unforgettable," the KCNA report emphasizes.

At the same time, the press service of the Russian Security Council also reported on this meeting, stating that Russia and North Korea discussed "practical measures to immortalize the memory of Korean soldiers" together.

It should be noted that the strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK was strengthened by a treaty signed during Vladimir Putin's official visit to Pyongyang on June 19, 2024. According to this treaty, if one of the two countries is subjected to armed aggression, the other country is obligated to provide military and other necessary assistance.

This meeting is another confirmation of the rapprochement between North Korea and Russia, causing significant stir in the international political arena. In particular, the DPRK's open support for Russia in the Ukraine war is expected to be sharply criticized by Western countries. However, it is undeniable that such cooperation between the two countries will create new situations in international politics.
