US forces struck military targets in southern Iran

The United States Central Command has officially reported strikes on a series of Iranian military facilities in southern Iran, according to Zamin.uz.
In a statement issued by the command, it was emphasized that these military actions were carried out solely for self-defense purposes. According to reports, the main strikes targeted missile launch sites of the Iranian armed forces, as well as vessels attempting to lay mines in maritime areas.
According to the U.S. side, these facilities posed a direct and serious threat to American military personnel in the region. Tim Hawkins, an official representative of Central Command, stated that these operations were conducted to protect U.S. service members from threats posed by Iran.
According to him, the U.S. military is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its forces in the region and to prevent possible attacks. At the same time, the official added that Washington continues to pursue a policy of restraint in order to preserve the current ceasefire regime.
This indicates that the U.S. views these strikes not as a large-scale military confrontation, but as a limited response aimed at preventing threats. According to available information, the U.S. and Iran have been implementing a de-escalation regime since April of this year.
However, the recent military actions have once again demonstrated how fragile and tense this peace remains, as even a minor military clash in the Middle East can quickly escalate into a major political crisis.
U.S. President Donald Trump previously stated via social media that the ongoing peace negotiations with Iran were progressing in a positive direction. In his view, the sides are either close to reaching a significant historical agreement, or, if the talks fail, armed confrontations could resume with greater intensity.
The president's remarks indicate that relations between Washington and Tehran are currently at a crossroads. On one hand, there is a possibility of reaching an agreement through diplomacy; on the other, the risk of serious military confrontation remains.
The strikes on military facilities in southern Iran, carried out during ongoing peace talks, have further complicated the situation. While the sides speak of dialogue and agreement, the continuation of military actions in practice shows that an atmosphere of mutual trust in the region has not yet been fully established.
At present, the main concern is how these strikes might affect the negotiation process. If both sides act with restraint, this incident could remain a limited operation.
However, retaliation or the initiation of new attacks could completely destroy the existing ceasefire. In summary, diplomacy and military pressure are continuing simultaneously in the region, keeping the situation in a highly precarious balance.
