President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has arrived in Astana, the capital of neighboring Kazakhstan, for a state visit. During this important three-day visit, not only will bilateral relations be strengthened, but the Summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which will have a significant impact on the economy of the entire region, will also take place.
The most important details of this meeting in the fraternal state and the expected large-scale projects are at the center of attention for many. As the aircraft carrying the Russian leader entered Kazakhstan's airspace, it was escorted with special honor by two fighter jets of the country's Air Force.
The high-ranking guest was personally welcomed at the airport by the leader of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Although the main negotiations are scheduled for the following day, political dialogues began that very day.
The presidents went directly from the airport to the special headquarters of the Kazakh leader. During an informal lunch held there, the parties initially discussed the most urgent issues on the agenda of the state visit and the upcoming summit.
The second day of the visit is expected to be rich in official meetings. In accordance with tradition, negotiations between the leaders will first take place in a narrow circle and then in an expanded format.
The main goal of the meeting is to bring the partnership between the two countries in political, trade-economic, military, and cultural spheres to a new level. One of the primary directions of the negotiations is the energy sector.
Specifically, issues regarding increasing the volume of transit of Russian oil through Kazakhstan's territory to other states and cooperation in the field of nuclear energy will be considered. Additionally, defining the main criteria for the project to build the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan and identifying its financing sources is also one of the important topics.
The leaders of the two states plan to sign a total of sixteen important international documents at the end of the visit. The most significant among them will be a joint statement strengthening the relations of friendship and good neighborliness between the two peoples.
In addition to political processes, the visit program includes various events of symbolic meaning, including the presentation of projects aimed at preserving the unique animal world.
