Iceland surpassed Switzerland as the most expensive country in the world

Iceland has been recognized as the most expensive country in the world in terms of cost of living. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the newly announced data, overall prices in this country are 84 percent higher than the European average. Thus, Iceland has surpassed Switzerland, which has long been among the most expensive countries, pushing it into second place.
This situation represents a significant financial burden not only for local residents but also for tourists visiting the country. In particular, the prices of food products necessary for daily needs are very high.
For example, meat products are sold at prices 71 percent higher than the European average. Moreover, the prices of automobiles and other technical equipment are also approximately 40 percent higher than in other European countries.
Such price levels indicate how large an amount is required to maintain a standard of living in Iceland. Experts believe that such high prices cannot be explained solely by the population’s high income levels.
The uniqueness of the country’s tax system, the fact that many products are imported, and the high logistics costs are considered among the main reasons. Additionally, relatively weak competition in the domestic market contributes to the steady rise in prices.
Furthermore, the rate of price increase in Iceland is much faster than in other European countries. This continually worsens living conditions and increases expenses year after year.
In conclusion, although Iceland attracts tourists with its unique nature, beautiful landscapes, and high quality of life, living or traveling there is becoming a luxury that demands substantial financial resources.
