Western companies under attack in Russia and Ukraine — new risks are intensifying
In the coming days, dangerous attacks that have occurred in the territories of Ukraine and Russia are drawing the attention of the international community. Russian military forces targeted the office of the famous American aerospace company Boeing in Kyiv on the night of June 10. According to the British Financial Times, this incident has been confirmed by several independent sources as well as photographs released by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES). The images show significant damage to the building, firefighters extinguishing the fire, and an empty office.

The Boeing office is located in the center of Kyiv on Glubochitskaya Street. The explosions and related damages that occurred at this location have sparked widespread discussion on SES's social media and photo banks. Kyiv's mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, also issued a statement regarding this attack, confirming that a business center in the Shevchenkivskyi district was hit.

The commentary on the incident included statements from two Boeing employees, Ukrainian officials, and the president of the Ukraine-American Chamber of Commerce: according to them, the Russian strike specifically targeted the company’s office and was not an accident, but rather an action carried out with a clear purpose. At the same time, Boeing's deputy director in Ukraine, Andrey Koryagin, emphasized that despite the attack, there has been no disruption in the company's operations, and both production and services continue uninterrupted.

Although Boeing officials have refrained from making an official comment regarding the attack, the company has stated that it is taking serious measures to ensure the safety of its employees and that there are no casualties. “Even in complex and dangerous conditions, the resilience and dedication of our employees are highly valued,” the company stated.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga commented on the incident, stating: “Russia's attacks on American companies demonstrate that Putin's administration is blatantly disregarding the peacekeeping efforts of the US and Western countries. Targeting American businesses and partners further emphasizes the importance of the US's role in ensuring Ukraine and European security,” he noted.

Boeing is one of the most well-known and largest American companies in Ukraine, employing over a thousand people in the country. The company primarily operates in engineering, maintenance, aerospace, and defense sectors. Recently, in 2024, Boeing and Ukraine's national "Antonov" aviation company signed a strategic cooperation memorandum on defense projects. At the beginning of 2025, Boeing leaders discussed new joint projects with Antonov and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

At the same time, the Ukrainian army continues to strike military targets outside its territory. In particular, Ukrainian drones attacked the city of Yelabuga in Russia's Tatarstan region, where the "Shaheed" strike drones are manufactured. As a result of the attack, at least one person was killed, and 13 others sustained various injuries. According to Tatarstan's leader Rustam Minnikhanov, the wreckage of the drone caused a fire at an automobile factory, and among the injured are patients in serious condition.

Videos circulating on social media show that there were also fires in the "Alabuga" special economic zone, as well as at the "Shaheed" drone and Aurus and "Sollers" automobile factory sites. Following the attacks, the Russian aviation service (Rosaviatsiya) imposed strict restrictions for several hours at Kazan, Izhevsk, and Nizhnekamsk airports. At the same time, 11 aircraft were redirected to reserve airfields as they could not land in Kazan, three in Izhevsk, and one liner in Nizhnekamsk airport.

These events indicate that the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is entering a new phase, and that Western companies, particularly American businesses and strategies, are at risk. New dangers and threats are increasing day by day for companies operating in defense, aviation, and technical cooperation sectors. This poses a serious threat to the security of all of Europe and the world, potentially leading to deeper geopolitical issues.
