Access to Samarkand will be restricted from April 3 to 5
Samarkand will be temporarily closed from April 3 to 5 due to the EU-Central Asia summit, reported Autostrada.uz.
On April 3, 4, and 5, 2025, the first summit will be held in Samarkand between the leaders of the European Union and Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan). As part of the program, the "Samarkand Climate Forum 2025" will also take place.
Representing the European Union, European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will participate in the summit. The event will be hosted by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The event will take place at the "Silk Road Samarkand" congress center.
For the safety and convenience of visitors, access to the city by car will be prohibited for three days. Detours will be provided for transit vehicles. Residents are requested not to travel to the city during these days.
