General Motors has announced that it will end the production of the Chevrolet Blazer equipped with an internal combustion engine (ICE) for the North American market, according to GM Authority.
The vehicle may be discontinued after the 2025 model year. Previously, the company made a similar decision regarding the Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 models.
If this happens, there will be no mid-size crossovers with GM's internal combustion engine left in the North American market. The Chevy Equinox may be offered as a gasoline alternative to the Chevrolet Blazer, but its engine is not as powerful. Buyers will also be presented with the electric Chevy Blazer EV.
Currently, the Chevrolet Blazer is being produced at GM's Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. According to reports, this plant will transition to producing only electric vehicles in the future.
Since the production of the Chevrolet Blazer began, its sales have decreased by 45% over five years (from 95,000 units to 52,500 units)
