General Motors (GM) has launched a recall campaign for nearly 877,000 pickup trucks and large SUVs in the United States, according to Kursiv Media. This recall is being conducted due to manufacturing defects identified in 6.2-liter V8 engines. These defects could lead to a complete engine failure while driving.
The recalled vehicles include the Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL models produced between 2021 and 2024. All of them are equipped with L87 type V8 engines.
An investigation conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that issues with these engines are widespread. The cause is damage to internal components such as the crankshaft and connecting rod during the manufacturing process.
As part of the campaign, vehicles will undergo a free technical inspection. If no issues are found, 0W-40 synthetic motor oil will be added, and the oil filter and cap will be replaced. If a malfunction is detected, the engine will be overhauled or replaced with a new one.
