Number of Electric Vehicles Worldwide Reaches Seventy-Four Million

Today, the demand for environmentally friendly vehicles is growing at an unprecedented rate worldwide, as reported by Zamin.uz. Recent analysis by experts from the German Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research shows that by the end of 2024, the number of electric vehicles on the planet reached 74 million units.
Compared to last year's figures, this represents an increase of nearly 19 million electric vehicles in a single year. These statistics include not only battery-electric vehicles but also hybrids and modern range-extended electric vehicles.
According to international news agencies, the People's Republic of China maintains its absolute leadership in this field. Currently, more than half of all electric vehicles in the world—over 44 million—are operating on Chinese roads.
The top five also includes the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. Notably, fourteen major European countries combined own twice as many electric vehicles as the United States.
This indicates that the transition to eco-friendly technologies is progressing much faster on the old continent. Industry experts believe that frequent fluctuations and rising prices of traditional fuels are encouraging people to choose more economical modes of transport.
Electric vehicle owners are less dependent on fossil fuel sources, which protects them to some extent from economic volatility. In the manufacturing market, the Chinese company BYD holds the leading position, followed by the American Tesla and the German Volkswagen.
It is a logical progression that in the future, internal combustion engine vehicles are expected to be completely replaced by electric technology.
