In Uzbekistan, a system for the state purchase of old cars is in effect.

A new system dedicated to the gradual disposal of old cars will be introduced in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Waste Management Agency, starting from 2026, vehicles that are 30 years old or older will be purchased by the state at market value and disposed of. According to the new regulation, such cars will be specially appraised, and their owners will be offered compensation in two forms.
Specifically, the funds can be provided as an electronic voucher for the purchase of a new car or paid in cash at the consumer's request. Citizens who use the electronic voucher will have the opportunity to purchase new cars manufactured in Uzbekistan on preferential terms.
The voucher amount will be considered as a down payment, and the remaining balance can be paid in installments over a period of more than one year. At the same time, financial penalties will be applied to persons who fail to hand over old vehicles for disposal within the specified period.
According to the new rules, such car owners must make an annual ecological compensation payment equal to 30 times the basic calculating amount. Experts note that this system will serve to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere, improve the ecological situation in cities, and modernize the vehicle fleet.
For information, nearly 600 thousand vehicles move daily in Tashkent city alone. The practice of disposing of old cars, introducing additional payments for them, and restricting access to city centers is also applied in more than 60 countries of the world, such as France, Germany, China, and the USA.
Previously, it was reported that the use and re-registration of vehicles older than 50 years would be prohibited, and such cars would be removed from the state register.
