BMW starts taking orders for the electric i3 model

BMW has started accepting orders for the new BMW i3, the fully electric version of one of its most famous models, the 3 Series. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The vehicle represents one of the most significant steps in the brand’s history, and it is expected to set new standards in the electric vehicle market not only in design but also in technical capabilities. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk.
According to Autocar, the starting price of the new BMW i3 sedan in the UK market is set at £53,005. While this is higher than previous internal combustion and hybrid models, it is significantly more affordable than its main competitor, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Electric.
The car is the second model built on BMW’s all-new Neue Klasse platform. The new BMW i3 impresses with its technical specifications.
It is equipped with a nickel-manganese-cobalt battery rated at 108 kWh, which allows it to travel an estimated 912 kilometers on a single charge. This figure outperforms nearly all electric vehicles currently on the market, allows it to travel approximately 912 kilometers on a single charge. This range puts it ahead of nearly all electric vehicles on the market, falling only slightly short of the newly updated Mercedes-Benz EQS.
Engineers attribute this high efficiency to the car’s aerodynamic design. Thanks to the Gen6 platform, structural components are directly bolted to the battery pack, which helps lower the center of gravity and reduce drag.
Additionally, the vehicle’s underbody is fully smooth and enclosed. In terms of charging, the BMW i3 also aims to lead the segment.
At 400 kW DC charging stations, the car can gain enough charge for 400 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. AC charging power is rated at 22 kW.
Initially, the vehicle will be sold only in the sedan body style. A wagon variant is planned for future release.
In 2028, a high-performance M3 EV model is scheduled to be introduced for driving enthusiasts. It is worth noting that BMW will continue to offer the 3 Series models with traditional internal combustion engines.
The company will keep selling gasoline-powered sedans, updated with new designs and technologies, alongside the electric version, giving customers the choice based on their needs.
In the Uzbek automotive market, where BMW’s electric vehicles — especially the i4 and iX models — are gaining popularity, the new i3 sedan could secure a strong position in the premium segment. In particular, the ability to travel over 900 kilometers on a single charge makes it highly attractive for long-distance travel.
