
A car number was sold at the auction of the Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with a price reaching 631.1 million soums. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This is equivalent to 50,060 USD based on the Central Bank's exchange rate. According to the established procedure, the new owner must make full payment to finalize the contract and register the number with the Road Traffic Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Activity in this market segment remains consistently high. A total of 628 car numbers were sold as a result of the sales on July 3, 2024.
The main buyers are individuals, who accounted for 597 lots. The remaining 31 numbers were sold to legal entities.
In these auctions, the minimum price of the numbers was 1.9 million soums. The trend of price increases peaked last month.
A new record was set in the nine-day online auction that ended on June 13. A legal entity from Tashkent region paid 1.56 billion soums, or 122,200 USD, for the car number with the combination 10 777 ZZZ.
This amount was 8.32 times higher than the starting price, which was 187.5 million soums. Previous records also indicate the increase in market prices.
In the auction held on December 24, 2024, a car number was sold for 965.3 million soums, equivalent to 74,770 USD. This result was more than 75 percent higher than the previous day's record of 551.3 million soums.
According to annual figures, car number sales in 2024 doubled compared to 2023, reaching approximately 800 billion soums. During this period, a total of 195,000 numbers were sold, of which 97 percent belonged to individuals.
For comparison, in 2023, 87,000 numbers were sold through the Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Uzbekistan, with a total value of 396.1 billion soums. The most expensive lot was purchased by a legal entity for 450 million soums, slightly above the 2021 record.
Funds generated from the sale of "beautiful" car numbers at auctions in Uzbekistan are distributed according to established procedures. A significant portion is directed to the state budget, while the remaining part goes to special accounts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.
These funds are used to cover operational costs and develop infrastructure.
