On September 5, 2025, the public of Uzbekistan celebrated the thousandth month since the birth of the well-known public figure, journalist, and educator Shavkat Abbasovich Miralimov. This was reported by Upl.uz.
The significance of this date lies in the fact that it is an important occasion to remember a person’s life journey beyond 83 years and his activities closely connected with the history of the country. Shavkat Miralimov began his labor career in the workshops of the Tashkent Hot Wagon Repair Plant.
Working as a craftsman for five years helped him not only learn a profession but also develop fundamental human qualities such as discipline, perseverance, and diligence. This experience became a solid foundation for his future work.
Later, Miralimov transitioned to journalism, working as a literary staff member in regional newspapers and republican publications. During this period, he improved his skills as a journalist, deeply understanding the needs and desires of society and learning to reflect them in the press.
An important part of his career was connected with working in Komsomol and party organizations. Miralimov held responsible positions in the Tashkent Region Komsomol Committee, the Central Committee of the Uzbekistan LKSM, and the capital’s party organizations, where he was recognized for his organizational abilities and success in achieving goals.
He also made significant contributions in the field of printing and publishing. As head of the Tashkent Region State Publishing Department, he carried out effective work in book publishing, strengthening the material and technical base of rural printing houses, and adapting the sector to new economic conditions.
Miralimov’s contribution to science and education is also considerable. He has been engaged in pedagogical activity for over forty years and has worked as an associate professor at the Faculty of Journalism of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek for more than 20 years.
Under his authorship, more than twenty monographs, textbooks, and teaching aids have been published. Shavkat Miralimov was active not only in one field but also participated actively in community life.
He served as an elder of the "Bog‘ishamol" neighborhood, head of the "Mahalla" association of Tashkent city, chairman of the Tashkent Region Football Federation, leader of the regional organization of the "People’s Unity" movement, deputy chairman of the "Uzbekistan-Bulgaria" friendship society, and advisor to the board of the "Nuroni" foundation. He was elected twice to the regional council of people’s deputies, representing the interests of voters.
His role in preserving and promoting national traditions is also significant. During difficult times, he defended the right to celebrate the Navruz holiday and worked with the interests of the people in mind.
Even today, he participates as an expert on television and in the press with his historical knowledge. For his many years of fruitful work, Shavkat Miralimov was awarded the "Labor Glory" order.
His life path is an example of loyal service to his work and people; he is known as a principled person who courageously defends his opinions, yet at the same time is simple, open, and respectful towards others. The National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, where Miralimov has worked for over 20 years, is one of the oldest and leading higher education institutions not only in Uzbekistan but also in Central Asia.
