It was revealed that two poems performed by singer Mirjalol Ne’matov were recited without the author's consent, and the Ministry of Justice provided an official statement regarding this. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Farhod Muminov, a member of the Copyright and Related Rights Protection Society of the Republic of Uzbekistan, applied to the Ministry of Justice concerning the unauthorized performance of his poems titled “Qo‘shni qiz” and “Men turganda” by Mirjalol Ne’matov. During the investigation, it was confirmed that these poems were performed without the author's consent.
Accordingly, a report was drawn up against Mirjalol Ne’matov under Article 177-1 of the Code of Administrative Liability, and the case was sent to court. According to the decision of the Uchtepa District Criminal Court of Tashkent city, the singer was found guilty and fined.
Experts believe that any performer must obtain the author's consent before presenting a work to the public. Otherwise, this situation is considered a violation of copyright and leads to legal liability.
Therefore, performers and artists must respect copyright.
