Netflix buys HBO and Warner Bros. for $82.7 billion

Discovery also announced that it is purchasing HBO and the HBO Max platforms included in it for $72 billion. The total value of the deal is set at $82.7 billion.

The completion of this major agreement is planned for the third quarter of 2026. After the deal is finalized, the Netflix platform's library will significantly expand.

It will add popular franchises such as “Game of Thrones,” “DC Universe,” “Harry Potter,” “The Sopranos,” and “The Big Bang Theory.” Netflix management emphasizes that this acquisition will sharply increase the number of viewers and strengthen the company's business stability.

At the same time, the agreement will be closely examined by antitrust authorities in the US and Europe. The impact of the merger of major media companies on market competition is expected to be a subject of special discussion.
