Two important cultural symbols of Karakalpakstan — the ancient qobiz musical instrument and the traditional yurt house — have been officially included in UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This event was accepted as a great achievement not only for Karakalpakstan but also for the entire culture of Uzbekistan. Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration, welcomed this historic event with great pride and satisfaction.
She called this day a truly historic date and emphasized that the decision made at the committee session held in New Delhi once again demonstrated the rich traditions of our people. In her speech, Saida Mirziyoyeva recognized the qobiz as a symbol of spiritual strength and respect preserved over centuries.
She noted that the yurt is a vivid symbol of the lifestyle, labor culture, and hospitality traditions of the Karakalpak people. Their inclusion in the UNESCO list is an important step towards strengthening a rich spiritual heritage for future generations.
This achievement is the result of the efforts of many craftsmen, researchers, and people preserving traditions. Mirziyoyeva specially acknowledged their contribution and called this success a collective victory of all our compatriots who love and appreciate our culture.
Such historic events aimed at preserving, promoting, and passing on our rich heritage to future generations are important in strengthening our national identity. It is the responsibility of today's generation to maintain our cultural values while approaching them with respect and reverence.
This recognition is significant as a symbol of respect for our past, pride in the present, and confidence in the future.
