Uzbekistan's cultural worker poet Ikrom Otamurod has passed away

The cultural worker and renowned poet Ikrom Otamurod has passed away. This was announced by the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan.
The Union expressed deep condolences to the poet's family members, relatives and all literature enthusiasts, and highly appreciated the great contribution he made to the development of our national literature. Ikrom Otamurod was born in 1951 in the village of Kasbi, Kasbi district, Kashkadarya region.
After graduating from secondary school, he studied at the Faculty of Journalism of the National University of Uzbekistan from 1969 to 1974 and thoroughly mastered the secrets of the field. The poet began his professional career in 1974 as an editor at the Editorial Office of the Uzbek Encyclopedia.
After one year, he joined the Sharq yulduzi (Eastern Star) journal, one of our country's prestigious publications. At this venue, he worked efficiently for many years as a literary employee and later as the head of the poetry department.
Ikrom Otamurod's first poetry collection was published under the title "Vaqt ranglari" (Colors of Time), which quickly captured readers' attention. Later, his dozens of poetry books such as "Janub qushlari" (Southern Birds), "To'rg'ayli manzillar" (Addresses from To'rg'ayli), "Ufqlar orti bepoyon" (Beyond the Horizons), "Ruhimning qayg'usi" (The Pain of My Soul), "Sen" (You), "Ko'nglim" (My Dream), "o'zing hamda" (You and Yourself) and "Tavr" gained worldwide recognition.
The poet's works have also been widely acclaimed internationally, and his works have been translated into Turkish, Arabic, Russian, Bulgarian, Moldovan, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik and Georgian languages. In addition, Ikrom Otamurod was also a skilled translator.
He translated the poems and epics of great representatives of world literature such as Walt Whitman, Pablo Neruda, Yevgeny Yevtushenko and Olyos Suleymov into Uzbek with mastery and presented them to our people. Ikrom Otamurod left an indelible mark in the history of our national poetry with his prolific creativity, sincere poems and services on the path of Uzbek literature.
His bright memory will forever remain in the hearts of his students and thousands of readers.
