Sardor Mamadaliyev was held accountable for Sherali Jo'rayev's songs

Famous Uzbek singer Sardor Mamadaliyev was held accountable under the law for performing songs belonging to the late poet and composer Sherali Jo'rayev without the necessary permission. Zamin.uz reported on this matter.
As a result of inspections conducted by the Ministry of Justice, copyright infringement was identified and appropriate measures were taken. These events began after heir Gulnoza Jo'rayeva made an official appeal to the ministry.
She requested legal oversight over famous songs such as Kormisham, Bandaman, and Karvon, which have been publicly performed to date. Obtaining prior consent from the late artist's close relatives is considered mandatory when presenting his rich legacy to the public.
Ministry officials thoroughly examined the submitted application and confirmed that a violation of the law had indeed occurred. Consequently, an administrative protocol was drawn up against the singer based on the Code of Administrative Liability, and the case was forwarded to the judicial authorities with full documentation.
The Chust District Court of the Namangan Region took the case under its consideration and announced its decision following a full investigation. The court found Sardor Mamadaliyev guilty of violating copyright and other related rights.
Pursuant to the court's final decision, a fine amounting to twenty times the basic calculation unit, i.e., eight million two hundred forty thousand sum, was imposed on the singer. This situation demonstrates not only an individual's mistake but also heightened attention to intellectual property rights across the entire national culture and entertainment sector.
In the future, all performers must coordinate with authors and their heirs before adding famous works to their repertoires. This will contribute to fostering a fair environment among artists and advancing the development of Uzbek national art.
