A new record has been set for electricity consumption in Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan, the unusual hot weather has driven electricity consumption to an unprecedented level. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Energy, the country's daily electricity consumption on July 13 of this year amounted to 278.6 million kilowatt-hours. This figure was recorded as a new record for the summer season.

This number is 6 million kilowatt-hours higher than last year's peak indicator, representing an overall growth rate of 2.2 percent. For comparison, the previous summer record was observed on July 18, 2023, when 272.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were consumed across the republic in one day.

The ongoing heatwave is cited as the main reason for such a sharp increase. As air temperatures rise, the need for air conditioning systems in homes, offices, and industrial facilities increases.

The continuous operation of air conditioners, fans, and refrigerators significantly increases the load on the overall energy system. Simply put, millions of people using cooling equipment simultaneously becomes a major test for the country's energy infrastructure.

It should be noted that despite the sharp increase in consumption, the volume of electricity production on July 13 exceeded the demand. On that day, a total of 281.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated, fully meeting consumers' needs.

However, experts warn that air temperatures may rise even further in the coming days. This could lead to new loads and records in the energy system.

Ensuring the stable operation of power grids and preventing unexpected breakdowns is one of the most important tasks during the summer season. During heatwaves, the prolonged operation of cooling equipment at high power levels poses a risk of overheating and short circuits in the networks.

For this reason, short-term outages due to technical failures in some areas are not unlikely. Rational use of electricity is now not only a matter of personal savings but also crucial for maintaining the stability of the entire system.

In particular, it is recommended to use electrical appliances cautiously during evening and night hours when consumption peaks. This helps ensure that lights remain on in every home and energy supply continues smoothly across all areas.
