Uzbekistan significantly increased gasoline imports in January–July 2026, according to One.uz.
In the first seven months, the country imported 710,000 tons of gasoline. This figure is 248,300 tons, or 54%, higher than the same period in 2025.
The total value of imported gasoline this year amounted to $426 million. According to statistics, the average price of imported gasoline in January–July 2026 was $600 per ton.
For comparison, in the same period of 2025, Uzbekistan imported 461,700 tons of gasoline worth $264.9 million, with an average price of $575 per ton.
Thus, over the past year, gasoline imports have increased not only in volume but also in total value. Reasons for the rise in gasoline imports Domestic gasoline production in Uzbekistan is insufficient to fully meet demand.
Therefore, the country fills the domestic market with purchased gasoline. Imports are being increased to ensure sufficient fuel supply for energy, transportation, and communal services.
Additionally, fluctuations in global energy prices affect import volumes. This situation highlights the importance of procurement strategies in ensuring national energy security.
While rising imports help meet domestic demand on one hand, they may increase external dependence on the other. Hence, developing local production, improving energy efficiency, and utilizing alternative sources are strategically important.
Long-term planning is needed in these areas. Ultimately, gasoline imports are not just numbers—they reflect the state of the economy and serve as an indicator for future planning.
This data is crucial for the government, economists, and businesses. Such analyses are necessary to make informed, evidence-based decisions.
Balancing imports and domestic production in Uzbekistan’s energy sector is essential. Only then can the economy achieve stable and independent development.
