Starting from August 1, 2025, significant changes will occur in the food product regulation system in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Upl.uz.
From now on, the cancellation of the mandatory nature of technical regulations and standards, including GOSTs, will take place. Instead, sanitary rules and hygiene standards developed by the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee and agreed upon with the relevant authorities will apply directly.
The new regulation does not mean a reduction in the safety requirements for food products. Products must be safe for consumption as before.
However, the focus of control is changing: instead of strict compliance with technical regulations, attention will be paid to sanitary and hygiene requirements. For manufacturers, these changes will allow for the simplification of administrative processes and the flexibility of production processes.
At the same time, risk factors may increase for consumers. The absence of strict quality standards set by GOSTs and technical regulations may lead to significant differences in product quality among various manufacturers.
If regulatory bodies do not operate effectively, low-quality products may appear in the market, which could negatively impact consumers' health. Therefore, it is recommended that consumers exercise particular caution when selecting food products.
It is necessary to carefully examine the product composition, check storage conditions, and verify the expiration date. These measures are crucial for ensuring health and safety.
