At the meeting of the "National Revival" Democratic Party faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the execution of the state budget and the budget of state targeted funds for the first half of 2025 was discussed. This was reported by Upl.uz.
Special attention was paid to the fields of education, cultural heritage, and tourism at this meeting. It was emphasized that the funds allocated to education are not being spent efficiently enough.
For example, despite the beginning of the academic year, only 75 percent of the funds allocated for textbooks have been used, which is causing problems in general education schools. Additionally, the issue of providing kindergartners with books and educational manuals was raised.
Although the number of state kindergartens in the country is approximately seventy thousand, the number of books published for them does not exceed a thousand copies. Members of the faction emphasized that reading skills are formed in kindergarten and stressed the necessity of publishing and delivering books and didactic materials for children to kindergartens.
The faction leader, Alisher Qodirov, questioned representatives of the Ministry of Transport about measures taken by "Uzbekistan Airways" and "Uzbekistan Railways" Joint Stock Companies to create conveniences for passengers, expand ticket purchasing opportunities, and assist in the development of tourism. He expressed concern about the limited availability of airplane and train tickets.
Qodirov pointed out that the number of flights to historical and tourist cities is insufficient, and despite the large flow of tourists, infrastructure is lacking. "When will it be possible to freely purchase airplane and train tickets?
When will the number of airplanes increase? Tourists are coming to historical and tourist cities, but the infrastructure is inadequate.
Due to the lack of daily flights, it is not possible to fly at any desired time. The passenger flow is large, but conditions are insufficient.
The Ministry of Transport is not contributing enough to the development of tourism. We doubt that they have a long-term strategy in this area," said Qodirov.
The poor condition of roads leading to some tourist sites was also discussed at the meeting. For example, the road to the Sarmishsoy monument, which has a thousand-year history, was cited.
Improving roads will significantly increase the country's tourism potential, and it was emphasized that the Tourism Committee should also take initiatives in this regard. The execution of funds allocated to the Cultural Heritage Agency was also reviewed.
It was reported that only 59 percent of the funds allocated to the agency and only 18 percent of the funds for improving the material and technical base of museums have been used, and explanations were requested from agency representatives. At the end of the meeting, responsible persons answered questions on all raised issues.
Recommendations were given to increase the efficiency of budget execution and to spend funds purposefully. It was also noted that it is necessary to use financial resources wisely in solving problems in various sectors.
