Former captain of the "Amkar" football club Aleksey Popov positively assessed the nomination of Stanislav Cherchesov as the head coach of the Grozny team "Akhmat". This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, Cherchesov is an experienced and qualified specialist, and the players listen to him. In Popov's opinion, the goals of the "Akhmat" team are high, but currently, the team is in a difficult situation.
For this reason, a coach like Stanislav Cherchesov is considered the best choice to lead the team out of the crisis. Popov emphasized that the main task for now is to get the team out of difficulty, and then other issues related to the coach can be resolved.
For reference, Stanislav Cherchesov previously worked for 12 years with the "Akhmat" team. Later, he served as head coach for "Amkar", Moscow's "Dynamo", Warsaw's "Legia" clubs, and the Russian national team.
He also worked at the "Ferencváros" club. His last job was with the Kazakhstan national team, where he also served as head coach.
In the winter of 2025, Cherchesov was relieved of this position.
