The International Boxing Federation (IBF) announced the updated rankings for the super heavyweight category for April 2025. A joyful news for the Uzbekistan boxing team — our compatriot Bahodir Jalolov has been included in the top 15 of this ranking!
According to the official IBF table, Jalolov occupies the 13th position. This was recorded as a result of his convincing victory over Ukrainian opponent Igor Shevadzutskiy on April 5 in Astana.
Tough fight, full distance, and "unanimous" victory
The fight took place in Astana, where Bahodir covered the full distance of 10 rounds for the first time in his professional career. This is the only case among his 15 victories where no knockout was recorded. Prior to this, he had knocked out 14 of his opponents.
The judges unanimously recognized the victory of the Uzbek boxer, and the IBF took this result into account when including him in the ranking.
Irony of fate: The opponent in the Olympic final is above
Another noteworthy aspect of the table is that Bahodir's opponent in the final of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Richard Torres, is ranked one position higher — 12th. Torres is also currently undefeated: 13 wins and 11 knockouts.
The potential rematch between these two boxers undoubtedly raises great interest among fans.
