Clean Air Project is starting in Uzbekistan

The "Clean Air" nationwide project to be implemented in Uzbekistan during 2026–2030 was officially launched by the decree signed by the President on March 25. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The document emphasizes that the main goal of the project is to reduce waste in the industrial, energy, construction, and transport sectors and to control the formation of natural dust. Within the program, it is planned to reduce the amount of pollutants released into the atmosphere by 10.5 percent.
Additionally, it is envisaged to install automatic monitoring stations and dust-gas cleaning equipment at large industrial enterprises. One of the priority tasks of the project is to increase the waste retention rate at industrial facilities by 32 percent and to reduce the number of days with PM2.5 levels exceeding the norm.
Furthermore, it is set to reduce the amount of harmful substances emitted from vehicles into the air by 10 percent. The project will be implemented gradually by regions.
Initially, measures will be introduced in the Fergana Valley, then expanded to central regions. In subsequent stages, the southern and western regions of the country will be covered, and in the final stage, the project will be fully implemented in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm.
Earlier, information was also provided about the mandatory requirement for civil servants not to use official cars on the 10th and 25th of each month, instead commuting to work by public transport, bicycle, or on foot. This project aims to improve air quality, monitor the ecological situation, and create a healthy environment for the population.
This will contribute to improving the quality of life in society.
