The head coach of the Russian national team, Valery Karpin, gave an interview to "Match TV" after the match against Bolivia. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He commented on Bolivia taking the initiative in the second half of the game. Karpin emphasized that this situation was mainly related to psychological factors, as when the score was 2:0 or 3:0, the opposing team saw no chance for a result and showed less aggression in the game.
He also mentioned that changes occurred after the 60th minute, with misunderstandings on the field and problems in how to apply pressure. However, no serious mistakes were observed in the individual battles.
The coach pointed out that small errors and the ball missing by a few centimeters resulted in the ball returning to the opponent, which affected the team's morale. He noted that all players were fully focused in the first half, but when the score was 3:0, there was some relaxation in the team.
Karpin said that he rarely gives positive feedback about the players' quality of play and that after such games, the main focus is on shortcomings. Despite all the good results, he stressed the need to always work hard and added that they immediately begin analyzing mistakes after the game.
