Two players from the clubs "Galatasaray" and "Fenerbahce" are threatened with imprisonment for participating in betting games. This was reported by euro-football.ru.
At the center of this scandal are "Galatasaray" player Metehan Baltadji and "Fenerbahce" captain Mert Hakan Yandas. According to the Sabah newspaper, Baltadji may face up to 13 years, and Yandas up to 17 years in prison.
According to the report, Baltadji placed bets on "Galatasaray" matches at least twice. Although he was not in the starting lineup in those matches, he was included in the squad, which gave him the opportunity to influence the outcome of the games.
According to Turkish law, athletes must inform bookmakers that they are professional sportsmen. However, it is noted that Baltadji refused to comply with this requirement.
This situation may lead to serious consequences for the players.
