
The Asian Championship in weightlifting taking place in China continues with victories for the Uzbekistan national team. The competitions in the men's -109 kg weight category are particularly memorable for the high-level performances of Uzbek athletes.
Famous athlete, Olympic champion and medalist Akbar Jo‘rayev once again demonstrated his high skill, leaving all his rivals behind in the competition. He lifted 183 kilograms in the snatch, 223 kilograms in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 406 kilograms in the two-lift competition. Such high results allowed Akbar to win in all three categories and take home three gold medals.
Additionally, another talented Uzbek athlete, Sharofiddin Amriddinov, also participated successfully in this weight category. He recorded 181 kilograms in the snatch, 214 kilograms in the clean and jerk, and a total of 395 kilograms in the two-lift competition, securing second place after Akbar and enriching his account with three silver medals.
The successes of Akbar Jo‘rayev and Sharofiddin Amriddinov have also benefited the Uzbekistan national team in the overall standings. Currently, our team has a total of 11 medals, including 3 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze, holding a prestigious third place in the overall ranking.
