The famous Catalan club — “Barcelona” sports director Deco recently shared his thoughts on the future of young star Lamine Yamal, who stands at the center of the team, in an interview with the media. Deco emphasized that negotiations to extend the contract with 17-year-old super talent Yamal are going “in the right direction.”

“Lamine is a player with a unique playing style. He shone very early and possesses a strong confidence that is rare in others. Look, my son is his age, but the thinking, approach, and responsibility that Yamal has are particularly commendable,” Deco said. According to him, regardless of how young the player is, he should rightfully have a worthy contract.
“We always want to see him happy. The amount of salary is not primary. If he feels valued and respected as a player, that alone will be sufficient motivation for his future,” Deco added.

While answering journalists' questions, the sports director revealed that Yamal's upcoming contract is intended to last at least 5-6 years. “He is the future of the team. We are working on a long-term project, and Yamal will be one of the central figures in this work,” Deco said.
According to him, several clubs showed interest in Yamal last season. Among them, the most serious offer came from Paris's PSG team. “They told us they were interested in him, but there were no serious negotiations on this matter. Real Madrid did not express interest in him,” he emphasized.
