FIFA's new light offside rule will change football

A new era is beginning in world football. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The new rule called “light offside” presented by FIFA could bring significant changes to the game of football. This innovation aims to make the game fairer, faster, and more entertaining.
The author of this initiative is Arsen Wenger, FIFA’s head of global football development. According to him, the new rule creates great opportunities for attackers.
From now on, an offside will be called only if the attacker has clearly passed the defender. That is, if any part of the attacker’s body is in front of the defender, it will not be considered offside.
This change will reduce the number of goals disallowed based on previous centimeters and help more goals to be scored in the game. Arsen Wenger considers it important that the new rule be tested in professional competitions and its impact on the game be determined.
Also, the new Football Video Support (FVS) system will be used for the first time in practice. This system does not fully replace VAR but is a simplified version of it.
Through FVS, coaches can request limited video reviews in controversial situations during the game, such as goals, penalties, or red card incidents. For this, they must present a special card to the fourth official.
Experts believe this system will increase the fairness of referees’ decisions but will limit opportunities to avoid excessive game stoppages. The new rules and technologies will be tested for the first time in the Canadian championship.
Football fans are watching these innovations with interest. Whether the new offside rule will enliven the game or cause new debates will become clear over time.
But one thing is certain: football is stepping into a new era of changes. Source: One.uz
