Bahodir Qurbonov: "We will start the first step by digitizing football"

Recently, a new president was elected for the organization at the extraordinary congress of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA). Accordingly, Bahodir Nizomovich Qurbonov, the head of the State Security Service, has taken office as the president of UFA.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the delegates for considering my candidacy worthy for the presidency of UFA. As everyone knows, football is the most popular and beloved sport in Uzbekistan. Our esteemed president Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev has signed many important documents aimed at developing football in our country and taking it to a new level. This, in turn, has given a significant boost to the growth of our football in recent years. A number of projects are being implemented in cooperation with FIFA and AFC to improve our football infrastructure and create favorable conditions for engaging in football. Our youth and junior national teams are achieving bright victories on the international stage.

Last year, for the first time in the history of our football, our U-23 national team participated in the Summer Olympic Games, and our U-20 national team was recognized as unmatched in Asia. Our junior national team secured a place in the strong eight at the World Championship. Today, Uzbekistan is recognized as a host of the most prestigious football tournaments. FIFA President Gianni Infantino rated the 2024 World Championship hosted by Uzbekistan as the best in history. My task in this new position is to mobilize all opportunities to achieve even greater results while continuing this development.

I hope that everyone working in the field of football will approach their responsibilities with diligence to justify the trust placed by our state leader and to achieve the results expected by fans. Dear congress participants, as president, I say from today that I need each of your knowledge, expertise, and support. I believe that together we will carry out this responsible task. We have great goals ahead of us. Our national team will soon participate in the decisive matches of the World Championship qualifiers. Participation in the Mundial is a long-standing dream of our people.

There are significant tasks ahead to gain the trust of fans, fill stadiums with supporters, and ensure integrity and transparency in football. I believe that football specialists and the media will work together and in unity to achieve our goal. We will start our first steps by digitizing football. Digitization allows for transparency, the nurturing of young players, and monitoring from a scientific perspective. Once again, I thank the congress participants and will do my utmost to justify your trust," said Bahodir Qurbonov.
