One of the most demanding and strict coaches in world football, Luis Enrique is known for his ruthless methods, Zamin.uz reports.

Former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Rafinha revealed just how tough training sessions were under the Spanish specialist. The Brazilian footballer, who worked with Enrique at Celta and Barcelona, described the coach's approach to physical preparation as mind-blowing.

This was reported by Goal.com. Rafinha expressed gratitude that he did not have to endure Enrique's first year with Barcelona's first team.

According to him, the training during that period resembled real military boot camp. The player emphasized that he was lucky to have joined in his second year.

The first year involved grueling physical work in the mountains, which was simply horrifying. Rafinha's brother told him all the truths, and the process was as tough as military drills.

Luis Enrique imposed such intense loads to ensure his team would outshine opponents in the final minutes of matches. Rafinha interprets the coach's philosophy this way.

The coach always said: If you reach the physical level I want, when everyone else collapses in the 70th minute, we keep going at high speed.

This method proved exactly as effective as he claimed. Besides the physical pressure, Luis Enrique is also known for his blunt criticism, which he directs openly.

He never shies away from telling players their shortcomings to their faces. Rafinha recalled the coach's sharp remarks: You're playing terribly, but you could be doing much better—otherwise, you'll achieve nothing. These comments kept the team constantly on edge.

Although Enrique's style is extremely tough, Rafinha highly values his ability to explain the game. In his view, Luis Enrique is a specialist who can convey his ideas clearly and understandably.

Such sharpness between coach and players served as a necessary factor in achieving success at big clubs like Barcelona. Source: Goal.com
