Norway eliminated Brazil from the World Cup

A major upset has shaken the football world, as reported by Zamin.uz.
Brazil’s dream of winning a sixth World Cup has been delayed by at least another four years. In a stunning turn of events during the quarterfinal match of the tournament being held in the United States, Norway defeated the South American giants 2–1, sending Brazil packing.
The two late goals from Erling Haaland secured a historic victory for the Scandinavians, according to Goal.com.
The match began poorly for Brazil. Early on, Norway’s Patrick Berg appeared to score, but the goal was overturned after a VAR review.
Soon after, Brazil had a golden opportunity to break the deadlock when Mateus Cunha was fouled inside the penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick.
However, Bruno Guimarães’ attempt was brilliantly saved by Norway’s goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland, becoming a pivotal moment in the game.
In the second half, Brazil pushed forward, introducing young talent Endrick in search of a goal. After a brilliant pass from Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior, Endrick found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper but failed to convert, sending his shot wide.
Analysts noted that Endrick’s introduction did not bring the expected impact, and his mistakes negatively affected the team’s performance. Meanwhile, Norway maintained a disciplined defensive structure while launching dangerous counterattacks.
In the 79th minute, Andreas Schjelderup delivered a cross from the left, which Erling Haaland headed past the goalkeeper to give Norway the lead.
Brazil threw everything forward in response, and in the 90th minute, Haaland struck again from the edge of the box to seal his brace and the victory.
During added time, a second penalty was awarded to Brazil after a handball by Casemiro.
Neymar stepped up and converted, reducing the deficit, but there was not enough time left for a comeback.
As a result, Brazil’s wait for a sixth World Cup title extends to at least 20 years—marking 24 years since their last triumph in 2002.
This defeat is a major blow to Brazilian football pride. Despite fielding a star-studded squad under Carlo Ancelotti, they were outplayed by Norway’s organization and Haaland’s individual brilliance.
For Norway, reaching the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in their history marks them as a genuine surprise package of the tournament.
