Zamin.uz As part of the preparations for the upcoming season, the "Zenit" team will hold a friendly match. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The match will take place at the "Gazprom Arena" stadium on July 9, Wednesday. One of the well-known teams from Western Europe – Switzerland's "Sion" will take the field as the opponent. It was reported that the Swiss Football Association advised the "Sion" team to refrain from traveling to Russia.
This recommendation is related to the sanctions imposed on Russian football by UEFA and FIFA. Nevertheless, since it is not an official competition, the Swiss Football Association could not prohibit the "Sion" team from playing against "Zenit".
Therefore, they limited themselves to just giving advice. It should be noted that Russian midfielder Anton Miranchuk also plays for "Sion". This match provides the teams with an opportunity to test their game, improve tactics, and enhance team condition before the new season.
Friendly matches are considered an important preparation stage for professional teams. Thus, this game is expected to be interesting for fans as well.
