Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is in talks to be appointed as the head coach of the under-18 team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to the BBC, after the previous youth team coach Adam Lourens left the club at the end of the 2024/25 season, Manchester United management is considering Fletcher as the main candidate.
The 41-year-old Scot Fletcher has previously worked within the club's system, first as a technical director and then as part of the coaching staff of the first team under Erik ten Hag. Until now, Fletcher had refrained from working with the under-18 team because his twin sons Tyler and Jack played in that age group.
Now he is considering the opportunity to manage the youth team. It is expected that working in this position will further enhance his coaching experience.
This appointment is considered significant within the club's focus on youth and its development policy.
