The head coach of Brazil's "Botafogo" team, Renato Paiva, has announced his resignation. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The parties decided to end their collaboration after the club was eliminated from the 2025 World Championship competition. The 55-year-old specialist had been managing the "Botafogo" team since February of this year.
Prior to that, he had coaching stints at clubs such as "Independiente," "Toluca," "Baya," and "Leon." In the 1/8 final stage of the World Championship among clubs, "Botafogo" faced off against the "Palmeiras" team.
The regular time ended in a 0:0 draw. In extra time, however, the "whites" lost 0:1.
Following this result, the team was eliminated from the competition, and therefore the collaboration with the head coach was terminated. An agreement was reached between the club management and the coach, and a mutually agreed decision was made to step into a new era.
Now, "Botafogo" will begin the process of searching for a new head coach.
