Shikunov: Abena is a subpar player for "Spartak" and Russia

The former sports director of Moscow "Spartak," Aleksandr Shikunov, commented on Mienti Abena, who left the "red-white" team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

According to him, in the first match for "Spartak," Abena was put to a tough test in Korba. It was immediately clear that this player was not suitable for "Spartak," nor for the level of the Russian championship.

Shikunov emphasized that because of Abena, "Spartak" lost a year, when in fact they could have acquired a good defender. Abena played for "Spartak" last season, but he only appeared in a total of 12 matches across all competitions. He came as a foreign player from the team "Ferencváros."

It should be noted that this strong Hungarian club was previously managed by "Spartak" head coach Dejan Stanković. Thus, Abena's arrival at the club was also linked to Stanković in the past. In Shikunov's opinion, Abena was not as effective as expected for "Spartak" and could not fully provide the defense that the team needed.

This affected the overall results of the team. Currently, "Spartak" is continuing its efforts to renew and strengthen its squad.
