Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Svetlana Jurova expressed her opinion on the possibility of changing the limit on the number of legionnaires. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Earlier, there were reports that the Ministry of Sports and the Russian Football Union were discussing the issue of tightening the limit. According to Jurova, in the current conditions of global sanctions and the unfriendly attitude of many countries, it is necessary to develop internal resources and provide young athletes with the opportunity to enter the field.
She believes this is a good measure supported by the state. Jurova also emphasized that fans want to see more Russian players on the field.
The current limit on legionnaires in the Russian championship includes two rules: a maximum of 13 foreign players can be in the team roster for the season, and their number on the field must not exceed 8. The new season will start on July 18.
There is a serious possibility that the limit on legionnaires in the Russian Premier League will be tightened. This is expected to have a positive impact on the development of Uzbek football and the country's sports.
