Popov: Rubin will not compete for the trophy in the new season

Former “Rubin” player Aleksey Popov shared his thoughts on the Kazan team's prospects in the new season of the Russian championship. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

According to Popov, it will be difficult for “Rubin” to become a sensational team this season, even after extending the contract with Daku. The coach's qualifications are not sufficient to secure a place in the main opening of the championship.

The specialist emphasized that Rashid Rahimov is not capable of leading the team to the prize-winning trio, even though the team has shown signs of development. Last season, “Rubin” finished in seventh place in the Russian championship.

In the first round of the new season, Rahimov's pupils will play against the home team “Akhmat.” Overall, although “Rubin” has high goals for the new season, the team's strength and coaching potential have not yet been adequately assessed.

Therefore, the team needs to invest more experience and effort to be competitive.
